Case Study: A Basement Upgrade with a Kitchenette

Part One: Initial Consultation

Erin had been using her basement the same way a lot of people do. Storage. Boxes. Stuff you don’t want upstairs.

She didn’t want to “finish a basement” just to say it was finished.

She wanted the space to be useful. Comfortable. Somewhere guests could grab a drink or coffee without running upstairs. Somewhere that felt like part of the home, not a leftover area.

At the center of that plan was a small kitchenette. Not oversized. Not flashy. Just well-thought-out and done right.

The basement didn’t have what a kitchenette needs to function properly, and the space itself left little room for error. Here’s what we had to work through:
